The Olive Branch
The Olive Branch is open now.

DOWNTOWN:  We gained some and we lost some over the past couple of weeks.  First, the bad news.  Sadly, we lost The Chef’s Pantry on Alexander, which is now closed.  Also, the Bowersock Art Gallery on 4th Avenue, will be closing soon. Now the good news… We have a new restaurant at 3rd and Alexander that has opened called The Olive Branch, that offer Mediterranean fare.  We also added another Cuban restaurant, Las Palmas – on the corner of 4th and Donnelly.  And, although we’re losing the good folks at Bowersock, Main Street Leasing says they are pleased to welcome Lee’s Fusion Art Glass into that space.  Reports from Main Street Leasing also tell us that the much anticipated Indian Restaurant, Shiva, soon to be on 5th Avenue, has recently secured its building permits – so they’re moving along.

MOUNT DORA POLICE DEPARTMENT:  For approximately 10 months, theUnknown-4 Mount Dora Police Department’s Special Operations Unit has been working two separate Drug Investigations in conjunction with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, DEA, and several local police departments. Both of those investigations have concluded and resulted in the arrest of over 140 people. There were arrests of individuals from Mount Dora.  Mount Dora’s SWAT team, as well as SWAT teams from Lake County, Seminole County and Leesburg executed the search warrants simultaneously.  A variety of guns, drugs, money and vehicles were seized in those search warrants.
