Feed the Hungry, Attend a World Record Attempt Event

Lake Cares Food Pantry To Benefit from Largest Potluck Ever

Free event, to feed the hungry in Lake County, Florida

Mount Dora, FL – On Saturday, November 12th, 2016, Lake Cares Food Pantry will be the recipient of funds raised during a Lake County event as a group of local individuals join forces to set a world record attempt for the “LARGEST POTLUCK EVER.” This FREE event will begin at 3:00 pm at Renninger’s Antique and Flea Market and will feature entertainment from David Oliver Willis and his American Idol friends, including season 12 winner Candace Glover.

The Largest Potluck Ever has a very simple concept, with a hefty goal. 2000+ people are needed, each bringing food (meat, side dish, fruit, dessert or beverage) that feeds six people. Children can participate as well, as long as they can physically carry in their contribution. The food does not have to be cooked by the participant and can be store bought.  Participants must register beforehand at www.LargestPotluckEver.com and make their pledge to bring the potluck they have selected.

Lake Cares Food Pantry, Inc., established in 2009, has a primary goal of providing food and other necessary items directly to individuals who need assistance in Lake County, Florida. In 2016, Lake Cares in on track to serve more than 30,000 people.  “We are solely dependent on the financial support of our community,” states Irene O’Malley, Lake Cares Food Pantry’s Executive Director, “We have high hopes that this event will generate $50,000 to help support our efforts for 2017.  We love creative ideas that will help increase awareness about our mission in Lake County, and thanks to theCross Mount Dora, Renninger’s Antique and Flea Market and David Oliver Willis, this event might just do the trick.” Lake Cares, Inc. is a not for profit 501 (c) (3) organization with the mission to Feed the Body, Educate the Mind and Lift the Spirit of All Individuals.

The World’s Largest Potluck Ever is the brainchild of an unusual mix of people who have come together to promote the Lake Cares Food Pantry mission while attempting to break a new Guinness World Record. David Oliver Willis (a former American Idol Star), Pastor Zach Zehnder (a Guinness World-Record Holder for the Longest Speech broken in November 2014), and Renninger’s Antique and Flea Market. Currently, the record is held by a group from Sherwood Park Alliance Church in Canada with 1,588. According to Guinness officials, there is a pending application under review from a group in Tennessee however, this event has not been verified as of yet, so the goal is to get more than 2000 people to participate in this event, and shoot for the record.
