Hurricane_Rita_PeakHurricane Season is here again!  For those of us who endure the heat and humidity of summer – there is yet another trial to be endured, and to be taken seriously.  With several named storms already this season, and hurricane season just officially began on June 1, it pays to be prepared.  Here is a great link provided by Lake County to help you through your preparations – and what actions should be taken during and after, should the worst occur. city sceneDon’t forget – buildings downtown will be tented for dry wood termites beginning on Monday, June 27th.  Preparations for the treatment begin over the weekend, when the awnings are removed from the buildings in preparation for the treatment. Businesses on the east side of Donnelly between 4th and 5th Avenues will be closed, and there will be parking places closed off for the equipment used.

election aheadElection Day is months away, but any candidate seeking a Mount Dora council seat must be filed by Friday, June 24th at noon.  Districts 2 (currently held by Cal Rolfson) & 3 (currently held by Ed Rowlett) and one at-large seat (currently held by Marie Rich) are up for grabs this year.  Here is a link to the electronic version of the election packet, which must be completed and timestamped at city hall no later than 12:00 on the 24th: 2016 Election Packet  If you have questions, contact the City Clerk, Gwen Johns at 735-7126.

Rebecca Rose Sculpturings at Modernism Museum: Modernism Museum isRebecca-Rose10 hosting Rebecca Rose, an award winning sculptor and art jeweler who is actively showing throughout the globe.
