Mount Dora’s Valerie Hart loves sharing her passion for cooking.
The past hostess of the locally produced “Back of the House” television show that highlighted the kitchen scene in Lake County’s restaurants has published a new book for 2015. Author of multiple cookbooks, she has combined her love of cats, cooking and history in one fun bundle. It is a combination novel and cookbook.
Valerie Hart’s book, “My Best Life,” is an autobiographical novel – with a twist – and each chapter is followed by historic, modern and ethnic recipes.
The protagonist, Sakie is a 22-pound 18-year-old feline known to her friends and family as an historian, philosopher, and food aficionado. Sensitive, poignant and humorous, she hastens to write her autobiography in her last hours. With details of her escapades with her present family she shares adventures of her three other lives and the lives of cats she has met that tell their own stories as the protagonists that changed history.
A cat that quotes Voltaire, Descartes, and the Bible, she sometimes almost becomes too human, as she remembers her past lives while fearing there might not be another.
This is a book not only for cat lovers and cooks, but also for anyone who wants a good experience to enjoy in and out of the kitchen.
The book can be ordered from Amazon or Barnes & Noble in hard or soft cover or e-books through Kindle. It will be available in November to book sellers in offset printing for immediate delivery from Archway’s warehouse.
